Margen connector for Claude
Margen is a notes app for ONYX Boox e-ink tablets. Every page you write by hand is transcribed in the background, and the Margen connector lets Claude list, search and read those notes, and look at the handwritten page itself when the transcription is not enough. The connector is read-only.
Before you connect
- A Margen account: you create it by signing in with your email in the Margen app on your Boox. Margen is in early access on Google Play; join the waitlist to get an invite.
- Some notes written in Margen. A page reaches Claude once the app has synced it (the status box next to the note is full).
- Claude on the web, the desktop app or the mobile apps. Any plan.
Connect
- In Claude, open Settings → Connectors and find Margen in the directory, then click Connect. (Or choose Add custom connector and paste
https://connector.getmargen.app/mcp.) - A Margen page opens. Enter the email of your Margen account.
- Type the 6-digit code we email you. It expires in 10 minutes. Check your spam folder if it does not arrive.
- Review what Claude will be able to read, and click Allow.
Once connected on the web or the desktop app, the connector works in the Claude mobile apps too. The connection uses OAuth 2.1: Claude never sees your email code, only a token that can read your own notes and nothing else.
What Claude can do
Five tools, all read-only. None of them can change, add or delete anything, on the tablet or in the cloud.

The text is a machine transcription of handwriting, so expect the odd misread word. Claude can check the page image when it matters.

Privacy and data
- Claude reads only the notes of the account you signed in with. No other account's data is reachable through your connection.
- When Claude reads a note, its text or image is sent to Claude and is then handled under your Anthropic settings.
- The connector stores no conversation data. It records which tool was called and when, without the query, the note content or page ids, to understand usage.
- Your notes are not used to train models, by us or by our transcription provider.

Disconnect
In Claude, open Settings → Connectors → Margen and disconnect. Or, on your Boox, open Margen → Settings → Account and disconnect Claude: every Claude token for your account stops working at once. Deleting your Margen account deletes your notes from our servers.
Troubleshooting
"No account for this email"
Accounts are created from the Boox app. Sign in there first, with the same address, then connect again.
Claude says it found no notes
Check on the Boox that your pages are synced (a full status box next to each note). A page with only drawings can have no text; Claude can still look at its image.
The code does not arrive
Look in spam, wait a minute and ask for a new one. Only the newest code works.
