Boox search
Search your handwritten Boox notes
Search every handwritten page from your Boox in Claude, on your phone or your laptop. Margen transcribes and indexes each page you write, so you find a note by the words you wrote or by what it was about, without remembering the notebook, the date or the title.
Why handwritten notes are hard to find
Boox Notes can search handwriting on the tablet, for the exact words you type. It can't answer "what did I decide about pricing?", and it can't be searched from your phone or your laptop. A page you wrote three months ago is one of hundreds that look alike in a thumbnail grid.
How Margen makes them searchable
- Every page is transcribed. When you close a note, the page is read by a vision model, which handles real handwriting, lists and arrows better than character-by-character recognition. Each page also gets a short title and a one-line summary.
- Search covers the handwriting and the summary. A word you wrote is found even when it appears only once in the page; a topic is found through the summary even when you abbreviated it.
- Search where you work. Connect Claude once and ask in plain words: "find my notes about the pricing call", "everything I wrote about sleep in October". Claude can also narrow by date and open the page image when the text is not enough.
- Your library shows titles, not doodles. On the tablet, notes are listed by the title from your own first line or from the model, with a status that shows whether each page is synced.
Edits stay in sync
When you change a page, it is transcribed again, and search follows the new version. Editing a note does not use another note from your balance (up to 100 re-transcriptions a month).
Questions
Which tablets does it work on?
Boox tablets running Android 10 or later. Early access goes through a Google Play closed test; if you have another tablet, say which one on the waitlist.
Can I search on the tablet itself?
Not yet. On the tablet, Margen lists your notes by title and summary; search happens in Claude.
Does it work offline?
Writing works offline. Pages are transcribed and become searchable once the tablet has a connection.
